How it functions:

Bead swimming pond filters are enclosed pressure vessels filled with millions of plastic beads. These buoyant beads serve for mechanical filtration, while their extensive bonding surface also facilitates biological filtration. Mechanical filtration: The buoyant beads within the enclosed vessel are densely packed, enabling effective trapping of dirt particles as water is forced through them by pump pressure. Over time, the biofilm around the beads thickens, enhancing the filter’s ability to capture finer dirt particles (down to 10 microns!). Biological filtration: The plastic beads offer an adhesion surface area of approximately 1600 m²/m³, providing ample space for bacteria to degrade ammonium, nitrite, and nitrate.

Technical specifications: • Filters are supplied with beads included. • All models feature the innovative new valve design with standard bypass. • The new UltraBead swimming pond filters are constructed from durable thermoplastic using the world’s most reliable injection moulding method, complete with a moulded base. • The UB140 model is equipped with Ø75 mm piping to minimize resistance further. • The fish stocking levels provided in the table are based on a daily feed rate of 1%. • Recommended pump capacity: The pump should be capable of circulating half of the swimming pond’s actual volume per hour, at a water column of 2-3 metres (0.2-0.3 bar) (refer to the pump chart for the relevant pump). •
